Volunteer positions are broken down by meet halves.Β The first half of each meet begins with Shrimps and ends at the conclusion of Backstroke.Β The second half starts with Individual Medley and ends at the conclusion of Free Relays. Once your family has volunteered for four (4) halves, or the equivalent of two (2) full meets, for the season, youβre done!Β Volunteering can be split between parents in any manner desired, and can be spread among any meets you wish.Β Or volunteer sessions can even be done concurrently (for example, if two parents both worked one entire meet, that would satisfy the 2 full meet requirement).
We suggest that veteran swim parents fill roles critical to the efficient operation of a meet, such as Clerk of Course and Head Timer (which are for our HOME meets only).Β Newbie swim parents can help with all other positions, such as parking, assistant clerk of course, runners, timers, and floaters.Β Stroke Judges should have previously experience or training in that position.
NOTE β all volunteer positions at meets that are not pool-side allow parents to break away momentarily to watch their children swim in their events.Β We just ask that everyone be conscientious of their fellow volunteers in doing so, and communicate accordingly.
